WISCONSIN CENTER FOR THE BOOK
ADDS TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

The board of the Wisconsin Center for the Book (WCB) is pleased to announce the addition of two new board members. Mary Lou Santovec and Tasha Saecker will serve three year terms through the end of 2012.

Currently a writer, Mary Lou Santovec has followed her curiosity through a series of professional careers, including elementary physical education and science teacher, college admissions officer, human resources administrator, and editor. She writes on a wide range of topics, including banking, higher education, interior design, gardening, health, and aging. She lives in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Tasha Saecker has a master’s in library science from UW-Madison and is currently the director of the Menasha Public Library. She is secretary of the Wisconsin Library Association board and past president and current board member of the Fox Cities Book Festival, as well as serving on the Cooperative Children’s Book Center Advisory Board.

Ms. Santovec and Ms. Saecker will join current WCB board members Mary “Casey” Martin (president), Kate Thompson (president-elect), Tom Montag (board secretary), Fred Lauing (treasurer), Carolyn Wedin, Chuck Stebelton, Tracy Honn, and Jacqueline Lalley.

Among its activities, the Wisconsin Center for the Book sponsors the annual Letters About Literature competition in Wisconsin and the Writers and Illustrators Speaking program, co-hosts the Wisconsin Literary Bash each spring in Wisconsin Rapids as part of the Prairie Chicken Festival, and produces an annual Poetry Bookmark which is distributed at the National Book Festival and through Wisconsin. WCB is affiliated nationally with the Library of Congress and in Wisconsin with Woodland Pattern Book Center in Milwaukee.

The mission of the Wisconsin Center for the Book is to promote the culture of the book, to celebrate books and book arts, to encourage the joy of reading and writing, and to honor Wisconsin’s literary heritage.
